Our Story

As a college undergraduate, Allen Stephenson found himself at a crossroads in his life and decided to spend some time in Italy. While there, he was inspired by some of the most beautiful elements in the world. From historical architecture, to couture clothing to high-performance sports cars, there was a common thread — exceptional craftsmanship, clean lines, fine quality and classic design.

At the age of 22, this inspiration, blended with his heritage, became Southern Tide. He decided to risk it all to pursue his dream. With nothing but an idea and a mountain of determination, he set out to tear down the corporate mold and try something so different that even his own family thought he was crazy. Luckily, they were wrong.

In designing his first piece, he enabled the best in design, balance, harmony and quality the space to complement each other, resulting in what many proclaim to be the most comfortable polo shirt in the world.

Southern Tide continues to incorporate these same elements into all of our designs, which carry the same high standard of excellence for which we are known.
